Experience Hendrix

Although it’s impossible to experience the famed majesty of the late Jimi Hendrix in person, you can come close. For the second year in a row, the legacy of one of modern music’s most innovative guitarists is being celebrated through the Experience Hendrix tour.

In addition to modern guitar heroes Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Jonny Lang, the cast of characters includes blues guitarist extraordinaire Buddy Guy, Los Lobos’ Cesar Rojas and David Hidalgo and, amazingly, Hendrix’s legendary rhythm section, drummer Mitch Mitchell and bassist Billy Cox.

Danzig

Former Misfits frontman Glenn Danzig is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the release of his first solo album on this year’s Blackest of the Black tour.

The scowling godfather of gloom has corralled four of the darkest forces in black metal to open for him, including Norwegian stalwarts Dimmu Borgir. It may be over for the rest of the world, but in Danzig’s world, every day is Halloween, and his deep, dark music is the ultimate soundtrack.

FESTIVAL

Siren Nation

Siren Nation is a multimedia celebration of women in the arts, and its musical component offers a smorgasbord of first-rate female talent. The Friday, Nov. 7, show is the rowdier offering, featuring the inspired electro-pop of the Trucks and Northern State, as well as Tahoe Jackson’s sassy blues.

Saturday, Nov. 8, leans more toward the mellow end of the spectrum, with appearances from local favorites Amelia, as well as the critically lauded singer-songwriters Laura Gibson, Laura Veirs and Scout Niblett.
