Amelia

Amelia fans, rejoice. The band members have been hard at work recording a new album, and although it doesn’t have a title or a release date at this time, they’ll be previewing material from it tonight.

While Amelia has been playing quite a bit as a trio recently, this show finds the band’s American Gothic parlor pop expanded into quintet format and fleshed out with drums, melodica, Wurlitzer and acoustic guitar.

Those unfamiliar with the band, take note. Amelia’s songs exist outside of time and space Ñ a unique blend of twang and torch that has already landed national attention. Catch it in an intimate venue while you still can.

Marriage Records Showcase with Mise en Abyme, Privacy, Grand Junction Grand Therapy

One thing’s for sure Ñ Portland has no shortage of homegrown labels.

Marriage Records differentiates itself by offering “music and art for you and yours,” and this is a good opportunity to immerse yourself in both. Mise en Abyme is augmenting its mesmerizing minimalist electronic musings with the addition of guitarist Jonathan Esquibel (now an official member) for the first time tonight, and Grand Junction Grand Therapy is performing solo as a precursor to the release of his book of poetry (also on Marriage next month).

Word on the street has it that Privacy’s last performance at the Towne Lounge had the entire bar in hushed reverence. Look for a debut single on Marriage next spring.
