Boaz Frankel high-fives school children visiting Pioneer Courthouse Square Monday morning during his attempt to earn the world record for "Most High Fives in an Hour."
ADVERTISEMENTS
A former Portlander now living in New York appears to have set a world record for "high fives" Monday morning at Pioneer Courthouse Square.
Boaz Frankel slapped 309 upraised hands in about 40 minutes, breaking the previous record of 308 recorded by the Guiness Book of Records - and then added at least 30 more.
Frankel ran up to arriving MAX trains and slapped hands as surprised passengers got off. At one point he got caught aboard MAX when the doors closed, but someone pushed the exit button and got him off.
Most passersby went along with Frankel's appeal. One elderly woman said she had no idea what was going on, but "it seemed friendly."
Frankel's dad videotaped the event to submit to the Guiness Book of World Records to make it official.
