A close-knit community of Northwest musicians, along with friends and family of Portlanders John, Luray and Ruby Kuca remain in shock after reports that the family died of carbon-monoxide poisoning in an apparent murder-suicide Thursday.
The couple's band, Vertigo Butterfly, played dark, ethereal music that touched the lives of many. The band's myspace site, www.myspace.com/vertigobutterfly, was flooded with comments in condolence over the weekend.
The 39-year-old couple and their 5-year-old daughter were found inside their Northeast Portland home after police responded to a call from a family member in California who received a disturbing email from John late Thursday evening.
Officers went to the house at Northeast 109th Avenue and Northeast Glisan Street (map) about 11 p.m. Thursday night.
