Joshua Walker, a 30-year-old man was shot twice Monday evening near Northeast 160th Avenue and East Burnside Street in Portland, police said.
At approximately 6:19 p.m., a female witness and the victim ran from an apartment complex parking lot up to an officer who was responding to a call. The female reported that victim had been shot and directed the officer's attention to the suspect who was backing a van out of a space in the parking lot. Police detained 38-year-old Junior Lee Hillman.
Hillman was charged with one count of Attempted Murder with a Firearm, one count of Assault in the First Degree with a Firearm, one count of Felon in Possession of a Firearm and two counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon
Detectives from the Gang Enforcement Team were called to the scene to conduct an investigation Monday night.
The victim was taken to Legacy Emanuel Hospital & Health Center to have surgery. He was expected to survive.
Police had to shut down East Burnside Street between 157th and 162nd Avenues as they processed the crime scene.
I can't argue that, but I'll also add that since we've adopted this policy of coddling criminals because they aren't really criminals, they're victims no one respects the law or expects to suffer consequences when they break the law. If we were to get a few Sheriffs like the one in Maricopa County Arizona and start running jails like he does down there you just might see the scum move out or straighten out.

Re: Shooting along East Burnside
I used to live in Windsor Court Apartments right near there. I really liked Windsor Court, but I guess the neighborhood has gone bad. It's a shame because it's one of my favorite places in Portland. We as Americans need to be less concerned about what is going on in East Uzbeckistan and more concerned about what is happening in our own back yard or, one day folks, we are going to wake up to a mess so big that we will never fix it - had people listened to this during the Vietnam war there would be no shootings on East Burnside.
