Big Brother is coming to town.
Not to spy on us, but to take a peek at local people who wouldn’t mind spending a few months in a house with a bunch of strangers while being watched by millions of television viewers. Oh, yeah, there’s also competition for $500,000 in the mix.
Producers from the CBS reality TV series “Big Brother” will host an open casting call from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, at McFadden’s Restaurant and Saloon, 107 N.W. Couch St.
The casting call is one of 15 across the nation in April and May. “Big Brother” is looking for 14 to 16 people to be on the show, and often tries to take at least one person from each city it visits, said Alex Cubalevic, a casting producer for the show.
Big Brother follows strangers who live together in a house for three months with dozens of cameras and microphones recording their every move around the clock. The roommates vote each other out of the house. The last person in the house wins the grand prize.
CBS is in the middle of Big Brother 9, with “after hours” episodes broadcasting on Showtime. Because of the three-month strike by the Writers Guild of America, CBS began working on another Big Brother series to be broadcast this year, Cubalevic said.
The show expects dozens of people to show up for the casting call, he said. Most cities attract between 50 and 100 people. A casting call in Los Angeles attracted about 300 people.
