Two of the five teenagers arrested in the racially charged assault and robbery case at a North Portland MAX light rail stations are facing trail in adult court.
A Multnomah County grand jury indicted Angela Dow and Ti'yana Clay, both 15, on second-degree robbery charges — Measure 11 crimes that can only be tried in adult court.
Other charges facing the two girls in the Wednesday indictment are third-degree assault, second-degree assault, interfering with public transportation, recklessly endangering another person and first-degree intimidation.
The intimidation charge is a so-called hate crime, meaning the victim was targeted because of her race. Police say some or all of the teens yelled racial insults at the victim during the incident.
Dow and Clay were arraigned on the charges Wednesday afternoon. Their trial is set for July 31.
The other three teens, including two 14-year-olds and another 15-year-old, have not been charged with any Measure 11 crimes. Their cases are being handed by juvenile court judges who have the option of referring them to adult court.
