SE Portland man arrested for drunk driving with child in the car

Also charged for marijuana, fighting with jail guards

A Southeast Portland man was arrested on drunk driving and other charges early Sunday morning after being stopped while allegedly driving with his 7-year-old son in the vehicle.

Brian Phillip Lyne, 46, was stopped at about 1:09 a.m. by the Oregon State Police on Interstate 205 because his 1997 Plymouth Voyager was allegedly traveling without its lights and was nearly struck from behind by another vehicle.

State troopers said Lyne was initially taken into custody without incident and found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana. Once inside a state patrol car, however, troopers said he began kicking the rear passenger side window, knocking out the window and leaving a half-inch gap between the door and vehicle frame.

Lyne was then taken to the Multnomah County Jail, where he allegedly fought with jail staff. He was subsequently charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants and recklessly endangering another person because his son was a passenger.

Lyne was also cited for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, refusing to take a breath test and driving without lights.

The child's mother came and took the boy home.

hell! this use to be normal back in the old days.

Dad was too drunk, so the kid would sit on his lap and steer.

I don't know why people are getting upset.....alcohol is legal...there are places out there where we can get that legal substance and get drunk all the time.

Smoking weed while drinking is just a time bomb. Then to have a child in the car while doing this is despicable. Bum should do time for dumbness, as mixing two highs that impair your driving and adds danger to all, should be a felony.

Did you check his voter registration? Are you sure he isn't one of McCain-Palin's "Joe six-pack" supporters? Bush and Cheney both had DUI's, as did Todd Palin. Liberal or conservative has nothing to do with it. The guy's irresponsible, just like Bush and Cheney were when they had their DUI's.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME.....WHAT KIND OF PERSON THINKS ITS OK TO DRINK AND DRIVE WITH A CHILD IN THE CAR...YIKES...I ALMOST DONT KNOW WHAT TO SAY....MAN AND FED UP TRIED TO LAY THE BLAME ON SOMEONE ELSE OR MAKE IT OK....PROBABLY DOES NOT HAVE KIDS....MAN UNBELIVEABLE.
