A Damascus woman is dead after being shot in Southern Oregon.
Barbara Lea Tooley, 59, of Damascus died at the scene in Glendale, said John Hanlin, Douglas County sheriff in a press release. Another victim — identified as Helen Berleta Long, 88 — is in intensive care at the Three Rivers Hospital in Grants Pass.
A neighbor reportedly heard gunshots at Long’s home at 6134 Azalea Glen Road in Glendale, which is roughly between Roseburg and Grants Pass, at about 6:10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1. Inside, police found two women who’d been shot, one fatally.
Detectives with the Douglas County Major Crimes Team are looking for a white male, described as having a well-developed dark colored beard, which might be fake. He is of average height with a thin build.
They also are looking for a black four-wheel drive SUV, possibly a Toyota 4Runner, spotted off the road near the house around the same time as the shooting. The vehicle has tinted windows and is likely a late ’90s or early 2000s model. It also is believed to have aftermarket mud terrain tires.
Investigators have stopped motorists nearby and gone door-to-door looking for leads in the case.
