A jewelry store owner returned home from work Wednesday evening to find his family tied up and armed robbers demanding jewelry from his Beaverton store, deputies said.
The robbers stole everything they could get their hands on at Ari Diamonds at Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway and Scholls Ferry Road, said Sgt. David Thompson of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
The suspects then drove away in the victim’s car, later leaving him behind, Thompson said.
In addition to finding multiple people armed with weapons inside his house, Scott Nimori, the jewelry store owner, discovered his father and his teenage son bound by the robbers, Thompson said.
The value of the stolen jewelry is not known.
Thompson said Nimori’s car was found at the corner of Southwest 70th Avenue and Southwest Raleighwood Lane.
The sheriff’s spokesman said Ari Diamonds has been burglarized at least three times since 2001 and Nimori was shot in the leg during one of the robberies.
Less than a year ago, two suspected thieves were arrested after an early-morning burglary at the store. One of them was found hiding in a portable toilet.
Washington County deputies are still investigating the robbery. Anyone with information is asked to call the Washington County Sheriff’s Office at 503-846-2500.
