Shooting, stabbing keep police busy

Officers respond to victims found in downtown and northeast neighborhoods

Portland police responded to a stabbing and a shooting on Saturday.

At 3 a.m., officers responded to a shooting the area of Southwest Fourth Avenue and Ankeny Street. They found Antonio Howard, 29, who was suffering from non-life threatening wounds.

Howard was transported to a local area hospital. The investigation is continuing.

At 10 p.m., officers responded to a report of a stabbing in the area of North Williams Avenue and Weidler Street. There they found the victim, David Dougherty, 35. He was taken to Legacy Emanuel Hospital & Health Center, where he was treated and later released.

Police later arrested the suspect, Christopher Cheney. He was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on assaut charges.
