Of course, no one wants to talk about it, but the children of prominent Portland jeweler Elie Kassab are suing their daddy in Clark County court over his management of a Regal Cinema, which, they say they were given before the exceedingly acrimonious divorce of Kassab and their mother, Kimberly, who Ñ if this isn’t beginning to sound a little too much like an old “Dallas” episode Ñ is the daughter of former boxer and theater mogul Tom Moyer. É At the time, the parents were appointed as managers of the property. É In their lawsuit, the kids, Vanessa, Velana and Nicholas, accuse Kassab of using their money to buy property for himself without letting them see the books, and they want him fired. É Court papers filed by Kassab’s lawyers deny all of the above. É All parties are hopeful that something can be worked out soon because Velana’s getting married next week Ñ and guess who’s supposed to walk her down the aisle?

Ron Pivo, sports director at KGW (8), was intrigued by the item in last Tuesday’s Trib, relating how new Blazer coach Nate McMillan has invited county chairwoman Diane Linn to the Blazers’ opening game. Says Ron: “Let’s just hope the Blazers don’t ask Ms. Linn to sing the national anthem.” É Sign on the door of Step Up Music, the successfully funky secondhand musical instrument store at 47th and Division: “Closed Ñ and if you think this is inconvenient, try getting married!” É All the best to owner Scott Demay and Julie Forward, who will be spending a week at the coast when they can find the time. É Over at Channel 6, they’re closing in on the anonymous Internet blogger who publishes something called PDX Media Watch, which he Ñ and it is a he Ñ uses to take potshots at various local media outlets, including his own. É Although his identity is supposed to be a big secret, he’s given them a virtual road map to his desk. É For starters, he obviously isn’t that familiar with the newspaper business, so he must work in broadcasting. É And he doesn’t seem much interested in the local radio scene, which leaves TV, right? É But the real tip-off is a detailed dissertation on a years-old layoff at good ol’ Channel 6. É Myself, I’ve always figured that if you have something worth saying, you shouldn’t be afraid to put your name on it.

Finally, how about a little pity for Sheriff Bernie Giusto, who’s currently being accused of having an affair with the wife of P-town’s Citizen Crime Commission, Lee Jeddeloh. Bernie, of course, denies it all. É She is, he is quoted as saying, just “a close friend” Ñ and he was only doing his duty when he gave Lee Jeddeloh a choice between going to rehab or going to jail. É Why, it seems like only last summer that Bernie was making the news for his puzzling failure, as a state police officer assigned as then-Gov. Neil Goldschmidt’s driver, to report what he’d heard about Goldschmidt and the 14-year-old girl. É Questions were also being raised about what Bernie acknowledged as a “close relationship” at the time with the governor’s wife. É And just what did he mean by that? “Well,” responded Bernie, “I never married her or moved in with her.” É Poor Bernie: Must be the most misunderstood sheriff in Multnomah County.
