Sports could use a little honesty

Sports figures ooze political correctness. They say what they think they’re supposed to say, even if they don’t mean it, and everybody knows it. Sometimes, they just flat-out lie. Or they don’t say anything at all.

The latest installment, then, of Let’s Be Real:

• “Of course I used the stuff. The end results justify the means,” Barry Bonds, home run impresario.

• “Wish I wouldn’t have had to release that phony congratulatory message to Barry. But people know how I feel,” Hank Aaron, the real home run king.

• “Bonds is a cheater and a schmuck. I’d rather brush my teeth with Brillo pads than shake his hand after hitting No. 756,” Bud Selig, Major League Baseball commissioner.

• “Tiger Woods is very beatable. But nobody’s going to do it on a regular basis,” Rory Sabbatini, PGA golfer.

• “Like Bonzi Wells once said, the fans love me no matter what, because I’m a player. That’s why they’re fans,” Adam “Pacman” Jones, Tennessee Titan cornerback/rap sheet regular.
