Johnson, Blount, Crenshaw expect to lead the way, with Harper offering option threat

EUGENE — The Oregon Ducks have led the Pac-10 in rushing the past two years.

With Jeremiah Johnson, junior-college transfer LeGarrette Blount and Andre Crenshaw, Oregon hopes to do it again — and, one would assume that a quarterback’s play (Nate Costa? Chris Harper?) would be pivotal in the running game, just not to the extent of Dennis Dixon.

“We won’t be as dominant as it was with Dennis,” Blount says of the ground attack. “I think we should use (Harper) for most of our option and run game situations; Nate’s the better passer. It will be a real nice combination of the two, and (Justin) Roper’s going to be decent.”

The 6-2, 230-pound Blount says he expects to get carries behind Johnson.

“I know he’s certainly going to be the starter and get most of the carries,” Blount

says. “I’m trying to fit in, help the team out.”
