Clackamas rally stuns Tualatin

The Cavaliers, trailing 27-6 late in the third quarter, score a 33-27 victory

TUALATIN – The Clackamas High School football team found itself in a less-than-ideal situation as the fourth quarter neared.

But the Cavaliers turned that situation into an amazing, come-from-behind victory.

Clackamas, trailing Tualatin 27-6 with less then three minutes remaining in the third quarter, rallied to score a 33-27 win over the Timberwolves in a non-league game played Friday at Tualatin High School.

“It would have been easy to give up,” Clackamas senior quarterback Ben Parsons said after the victory. “But we’re a battle-back team. We never thought we couldn’t do it. We all believe in each other.”

With the win, Clackamas evened its season record at 1-1.

“It’s my first win at quarterback,” Parsons said. “So it’s a morale-lifter.”

With the loss, Tualatin fell to 0-3 on the season.

“This was a tough one,” Tualatin senior running back Phil Pauly said. “But we’re getting closer and closer. Tonight we played a very good half and a very good three quarters. We just need to put it all together. We’ll get there.”

The Wolves, in Friday’s game, grabbed a 27-6 lead when senior John Grill scored on a 1-yard run – his fourth touchdown run of the contest – coming with 2 minutes and 54 seconds left to play in the third quarter.

But that’s when things turned Clackamas’ way.

On the very next play from scrimmage, Cavalier senior running back Trevor Liske scored on a spectacular 80-yard run to cut the Tualatin lead to 27-12.
