Final score:
The Ackers, five touchdowns … Malcolm Johnson, one touchdown.
Well, that’s one way of looking at Friday afternoon’s Grant-Barlow game.
Quarterback Kenneth Acker and his older brother, tailback Karl Acker, played a part in all five TDs as homefield Grant got its first win of the preseason, beating running back Johnson and the Bruins 34-21.
There was a lot more to it than that, of course, but the marquee players certainly had a major role.
Kenneth Acker passed for two touchdowns and ran for another. Karl Acker carried for two TDs. Johnson had one touchdown run and rushed 36 times for 222 yards.
What mattered to the Ackers and the other Generals, though, was the “W.” It came after tough losses to Jefferson, in overtime, and at Westview.
