David Douglas built a 21-7 after three quarters, then weathered a late comeback attempt by Centennial to stay unbeaten in league play and spoil the Eagles’ homecoming Friday night.
The Scots set up their 21-14 victory with solid offense in the first half and tenacious defense down the stretch.
Quarterback Tyler Maes did most of the damage in the passing game, completing 6 of 13 throws for 79 yards and two touchdowns.
The first came on a 5-yard toss to Andre Eddings, and the second was a 27-yard strike to Brian Teague to give the Scots a 14- 7 lead with a little over three minutes left in the first half.
"Early in the game we did some things I don't think they expected us to do,” David Douglas coach Dan Wood said. “We hadn't thrown that much earlier in the year, but Tyler has a great deal of coachability and savvy – he’s getting better every week.”
