Wilson High pitcher Stuart Fewel has given his verbal commitment to join the Oregon State baseball team next season.
"That was the team I've been trying to go to for a while," says Fewel, who had a 19-1 record in his junior and senior prep seasons. "They came in a little late (recruiting), but it worked out.
"I want to go in there, and with all the coaches and help they have, I know I can get better playing for them."
The 6-4, 210-pound Fewel says he hasn't been promised scholarship money, as of now.
"They don't have enough money (for me) right now," he says. "But I'm on the team no matter what. I just decided to give it a try."
Fewel says he chose Oregon State over Lower Columbia, a junior college in Longview, Wash., where Wilson teammates Bailey and Brent Graham will be heading.
Fewel will spend the summer pitching for the Alpenrose Dairy American Legion team.
