SALT LAKE CITY – Whatever was ailing the Portland Beavers didn't keep them from getting healthy Saturday at the Salt Lake Bees' expense.
The Beavers had to postpone a game on Friday because seven players had the flu.
The team (45-55) returned to the diamond and beat the Bees (50-50) 8-3, rapping 16 hits, one off the Bevos' season high.
Walter Silva (4-4) got his first road win, scattering eight hits and two walks and giving up three runs in six innings.
Val Pascucci had two home runs and five RBIs and gave the Beavers a 3-0 lead with his first-inning HR. He also hit one in the third to boost Portland's edge to 5-0.
Seth Johnson, who was transferred from Class AA San Antonio on Saturday, hit his first Triple-A home run, a two-run shot in the fifth.
Portland and Salt Lake will make up the postponed game as part of a 1 p.m. PT doubleheader Sunday. The Beavers plan to send Brian Lawrence (4-2, 4,00) to the mound in the opener against Brad Knox (5-5, 5.22). Matt Teague (0-0, 0.00) will start the nightcap for the Bevos, facing Mike MacDonald (5-10, 5.89).
