ADVERTISEMENTS
A 30th-minute goal by midfielder Ryan Pore was all the Portland Timbers needed Thursday to stretch their United Soccer Leagues First Division-record unbeaten streak to 19 games.
Pore scored his fifth goal of the season in a 1-0 victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps. Midfielder Johan Claesson fed Pore for the shot, which came after a long run.
The Timbers improved to 10-1-9 and moved into a tie for first place at 39 points with the Carolina RailHawks.
Vancouver fell to 7-8-4, 25 points.
Portland finished 2-1-0 in the season series.
The Timbers will play host to Charleston at 7 p.m. Saturday, also at PGE Park.
