West Linn stayed unbeaten in the Three Rivers League with a dominating 56-10 victory over Oregon City on Thursday. It marked the seventh straight win by the Lions over the Pioneers in the 89-year rivalry between the schools and also set up a battle for first place with Lake Oswego next week.
Oregon City actually got on the board first after driving down to the 15-yard line on its opening possession. Taylor Belmont then kicked a 32-yard field goal.
But the Lions also scored on their first drive. In fact, West Linn would score touchdowns on its first six offensive possessions.
Logan Krellwitz hit Michael Fay for a 10-yard score to give the Lions a 7-3 lead. Oregon City drove into West Linn territory on its next drive but Thomas Coyle was stopped on fourth and one to give the ball back to West Linn.
The Lions would score midway through the second quarter on a two-yard run from Mason Finnerty.
Oregon City followed by going three-and-out and the Lions got the ball at the 12-yard line with just over two minutes to play in the half.
And West Linn marched 88 yards as Krellwitz completed passes to five different receivers, eventually connecting with Keaton Hedman for a one-yard score to make it 21-3 at the half.
