ADVERTISEMENTS
I should have gone with my first impression, stuck with the plan and picked the Ducks to win every game after the Boise State loss.
At the start of the season, I had the Ducks projected to go 11-1 and win the Pac-10. But the Boise State loss and some other factors changed things and, at the time, I thought Cal and USC would get them – as a lot of people thought. A combined score of 89-23 later, it appears Chip Kelly and his crew have proven to be the frontrunners that I and others had thought they would be.
The Ducks should win their next four games, but things happen in college football. Starting with Stanford (12:30 p.m. Saturday), can the Cardinal run the ball effectively (Toby Gerhart), hit on some passes (Andrew Luck) and control the ball against the Ducks? Can the Cardinal win the special teams battle?
The Cardinal offense needs to put up yards and points, because I don't see any way the defense will stop the Ducks. It boils down to UO's system, athletes, depth, plays, conditioning and pace, and the Ducks have everything going well on the offensive side. If USC's athlete's couldn't contain the Ducks, what makes me think Stanford's can?
As long as QB Jeremiah Masoli and teammates don't turn the ball over, I see the Ducks rolling up at least 40 points and 400 yards. That should be enough to win.
THE PICK: Oregon 41, Stanford 20
Games like UCLA? How quickly you forget that Masoli didn't play. Think that might have made a difference. It will make a difference tomorrow.
Ducks will roll Furd.

Good thing that Ron is not a Duck fan, because we don't need people like that.
This year the Ducks are focused and prepared each week and they seem to get better each week.
Ducks will beat Stanford by more than 20 points.

Re: JASON SAYS: Ducks have too much offense for Cardinal
It is amazing how fast duck fans (including Jason Vondersmith) forget games like UCLA. This isn't as big a lock as you might think.
** There is no way college kids can come off a win like USC and not have a let down.
** They are going on the road.
** They are running on grass not turf.
** Toby Gerhart will have a good game.
** Stanford's defense, while not as athletic as UCS', will be more disciplined.
** As the only undefeated team in the Pac-10, you will definitely get Stanford's best game.
If I was a duck fan, I would be really really nervous.
As for me, I am betting the under and Stanford to in straight up!
