A man accused of brutally attacking a pickup driver near a protest in downtown Portland earlier this week has turned himself in and been arrested, according to the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office.
Marquise Lee Love, 25, was booked in the Multnomah County Dentention Center on Friday morning, according to records.
He faces charges of assault in the second degree, coercion and riot. It's unclear if Love has an attorney.
"I am pleased the suspect in this case turned himself in and appreciate all of the efforts to facilitate this safe resolution," said Chief Chuck Lovell. "Thank you to all of the members of the public who have provided information and tips to our investigators. Your assistance is very much appreciated."
Love is accused of kicking a man in the head and knocking him unconscious following an incident at Southwest Broadway and Taylor on the night of Sunday, Aug. 16. The assault was caught on video, and police announced they were looking for Love earlier this week.
Officers found the victim, who had been driving a white pickup, lying in the street unconscious and bleeding. The victim, whose name KOIN 6 News has learned is Adam Haner, is recovering at home from his injuries.
Investigators have also identified a potential witness they have been looking for. His name was not released.
