Portland police have arrested two people for possession of a gun and methamphetamine — with authorities claiming they sped off from a traffic stop and were later located by a police airplane.
The incident began when Officer Sabrina Dobbs attempted to pull over a car near the 6500 block of Simpson Street and the Portland Highway around 11:26 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 2.
According to court documents, the officer didn't see any license plate numbers on the vehicle — and the car allegedly didn't pull over after she began flashing lights and sirens.
The Portland Police Bureau's airplane tracked the car from the sky — and spotted a man bailing out from the driver's seat and a woman get out on the passenger side near 59th Avenue and Killingsworth Street.
The air unit alleged that the man tossed a bag behind a tree. Police later found meth and a 9mm handgun with "a bullet in the chamber" in the bag, according to a probable cause affidavit.
Police arrested Wendy Kimiko Ngirarois, 33, and 34-year-old Cody Reno Billy Boy Charboneau on multiple charges for possession of drugs and the gun, and for pre-exisiting warrants and parole violations.
Ngirarois told officers she wanted to "take the rap" for the gun because Charboneau "has done a lot for her," according to the affidavit.
Ngirarois is homeless, according to a court records, and has been convicted of seven felonies and four misdemeanors.
Charboneau has three felony convictions and one misdemeanor conviction. Both remain incarcerated at this time.
