Portland Fire & Rescue battles fire in U-Haul parking lot

Firefighters work to stop the spread of a fire early in the morning of Friday, Nov. 25, in Southeast Portland.

No one was injured during an early-morning fire at a U-Haul truck rental location on Southeast 48th and Powell, according to Portland Fire & Rescue.

The firefighters who arrived first, around 1:47 a.m., Friday, Nov. 25, found three to four box trucks in the center of the parking lot fully engulfed in flames. That crew worked to stop the spread of the fire as other crews arrived. Space in the lot was too tight for firefighters carrying air tanks on their backs, so crews positioned a truck on the northern edge of the property to spray water down onto the fire from above.
