On Monday morning, the mayor of Boston, Massachusetts, banned all construction beginning Tuesday. Mayor Martin Walsh, a former organizer with the Building Trades Unions, said all construction projects would stop for 14 days. Boston has 33 persons infected with COVID-19.
Meanwhile, in Portland, construction workers were busy at work Monday despite the coronavirus scare.
Orange-clad carpenters and steelworkers braved the cold wind and carried on as normal on sites across the Portland area.
Workers were visible at the top of the new Multnomah County Courthouse at the west end of the Hawthorne Bridge.
They were also seen coming back from lunch at Jefferson Station, the historic building at its base.
