Special police patrols nab 6 for racing on Portland streets

A car is towed during a special enforcement mission targeting street racing in Portland.

The Portland Police Bureau cast a net for unlawful vehicle races on Portland streets, and the results of the weekend mission include a number of criminal penalities.

Authorities announced six arrests, 19 traffic stops and four towed vehicles during the extra patrols on Saturday, July 27 and Sunday, July 28. Police focused on North and Northeast portions of the city, where late-night races have become a persistent problem.
