Portland Thorns, Washington tangle to spirited draw

Sophia Smith scored another impressive goal Wednesday, May 18, as the Portland Thorns and Washington Spirit played to a 1-1 draw in National Women's Soccer League match in front of 9,876 fans at Providence Park.

The Thorns have one win and two draws to open the regular season for five points. The defending NWSL champion Spirit is 1-1-1.
